Flying Home After a Hair Transplant or Treatment: Your Airport Day, Step by Step

The day you fly home after a procedure is about comfort and timing. A practical plan for the ride to the airport and the hours before your flight.

Your treatment is done and it is time to go home. The last day is rarely difficult, but a little planning keeps it calm. This is general travel advice – for anything medical, always follow the instructions your clinic gave you.

Choose a sensible pick-up time

Istanbul Airport is a long way from the old city and Taksim, and Sabiha Gökçen is on the Asian side. Traffic can double a journey at rush hour. As a rule, plan to reach the airport about three hours before an international flight, and book the pick-up so that you are not rushing. If you are not sure, tell us your flight time when you book and we will suggest a pick-up time for your hotel.

Pack the evening before

  • Keep your passport, ticket, medication and the clinic's aftercare papers in one small bag you carry yourself.
  • Let the driver load and unload the suitcases – there is no reason to lift heavy bags.
  • If your clinic gave you a special pillow or headwear, keep it in your hand luggage.

On the way

The ride is private, so you can sit back, keep the window closed or open, and ask the driver to keep the temperature as you like it. If you need a stop, just say so.

At the airport

Your driver drops you at the departures level of your terminal. At Istanbul Airport there is a security check at the building entrance, then check-in, passport control and a second security check, so allow time for queues. At Sabiha Gökçen the walk is shorter, but queues can still be long in the evening.

If your flight changes

If the airline moves your flight, tell us as soon as you can. We move the pick-up free of charge. For booking changes, see our Cancellation & Refund Policy, or contact us directly.
